Twitter-ing it Up

Published by horror_queen under Personal Edit This

I recently joined the world of Twitter and basically have no idea what I’m doing. I have yet to figure out how to post links, or even gain more friends. My best friend Katy has a Twitter account that works with her NASCAR writing, the blog we run together and the massive blog she’s planning to launch next year. She currently has around 17 billion friends, which is probably an exaggeration though it does feel like that sometimes.

The point of my story (and I do have one) is that if you’d like to join me in this dark and scary world, or just see what the Horror Queen actually looks like, click the little Twitter link on the right. It takes you right to my Twitter page. Oh and if you do add me as a friend (tweet, peep, whatever it’s called), I’ll add you.

Greetings!

Published by horror_queen under Personal Edit This

I’m currently in the process of setting up a whole slew of horror movie reviews for the next month at least. My goal is to post a new review from the beginning of September up until Halloween, including a few movies that I’ve never seen before along with a few classics. If you have any recommendations or there’s anything you’d like to see reviewed on here, please let me know. Until then, have fun! Thanks to the FD franchise and H2, it looks like August is the new October…

The Horror Queen Turns 29

Published by horror_queen under Personal Edit This

Obviously not my blog because it’s not even a year old. Rather it’s my own birthday, the Horror Queen herself turns 29. Unlike my other friends who consider it the “death” of their younger years or the last year to have any real fun, it’s just another birthday for me. Tonight I plan on kicking back with some neighbors, having a few beers…okay, more than a few beers and having some fun. We’re celebrating the birthday of myself and another person in the building and we may even pop in a few horror movies. Too bad I don’t own a copy of Happy Birthday to Me, that would be the perfect compliment…

Apologies

Published by horror_queen under Personal Edit This

I promise that new reviews are coming soon! I’ve never mentioned it on here before, but I happen to be a huge NASCAR fan and every year I take a week-long trip to Charlotte. It just so happens that we’re leaving on Monday morning so I’ve been pretty busy planning in addition to making money for my vacation. I have a lot of movies that I’ve watched, I just haven’t had the time to write out my thoughts in a cohesive way. Look out though because in the next few weeks you’ll get an onslaught of reviews!

FEEDING MY ADDICTION

Published by horror_queen under Personal Edit This

Every year I look forward to October, for obvious reasons of course. Part of what I love is that being a horror movie fan is no longer a dirty thing. People suddenly come forward to admit that they love horror movies and they may even go to the local theater for whatever piece of garbage Hollywood has released or they’ll pick up a few movies from the video store. It fills the Horror Queen with joy.

Tonight I made the mistake of heading to my local Wal-Mart. Towards the beginning of September the mega store suddenly realizes it’s almost Halloween and sticks a bunch of horror movies out for sale. Usually the movies are tremendously bad, but that doesn’t stop me from jumping up and down with glee…or at least calmly adding 2-3 to my basket.

Tonight’s trip to Wal-Mart was meant for one sole purpose: to locate a copy of “Friday the 13th the Series” Season 1 DVD set. Unfortunately my area apparently hates this television show, that’s the only explanation I can find for why no store in the area has this set. One worker was so confused by my question that he tracked down another worker. Luckily I found my horror movie soul mate right in the aisle at Wal-Mart. Well, at least another fan and someone who actually knows who Jim Van Bebber is and owns one of his movies. It was also an excuse for the Horror Queen to pimp out a friend who makes horror movies.

Wal-Mart has devoted one end cap of their store to horror movies that would otherwise never be found in one of their stores. Better yet, most of those movies were cheap. Will they be any good? Probably not. Cutting Edge Films had two movie sets where you get 2 horror movies for $8. I look forward to poking fun at Kristy Swanson, Lukas Haas and Michael Masden in the near future as well as David Carradine. I also picked up the special edition of Return of the Living Dead, a twofer with Shocker and People Under the Stairs and I managed to leave without grabbing that set of Psycho movies. Very soon you’ll be getting reviews on all of these movies.

Though I despise Wal-Mart, they are helpful in feeding my addiction to bad horror movies. If you haven’t been there yet, make the trip. After Halloween these movies will go back in some forgotten bin where they’ll sit until next year…
