Ungh
PLOT
The movie starts out with a flashback of Michael’s mom bringing him a horse statue and then jumps to the moment right after the last movie ended. Laurie goes to the emergency room and Michael’s dead body is picked up by an ambulance. Of course it crashes and Michael escapes. He shows up at the hospital, starts killing people and chases Laurie until oops, she wakes up and it was all a dream. Michael is actually missing and it’s a year later. Dr. Loomis is a big star how, having wrote a book about the events and Laurie has turned into one of those poser chicks that I despise. Laurie starts having visions of herself doing Michael’s earlier killings and basically being schizo before learning she’s his sister. Oh and he’s on his way “home” to finally off his little sis because his dead mom wants the family back together again.
TRIVIA
Rob Zombie originally didn’t want to do a sequel and production began with different filmmakers before he finally decided to come back.
Danielle Harris returned for her fourth turn in a Halloween movie.
THOUGHTS
I’m very protective of Michael Myers because the Halloween franchise has always been my favorite. My boyfriend and I saw this together the day after watching three of the original movies and that was probably a mistake because the longer this movie went on, the more pissed off I became. After Halloween 2 ended, we both said at the same time, “what the fuck was that?”. I really, really didn’t like this movie at all. I disliked how Laurie was a little poser teenager who does all the same damn things girls do in movies to look “different” (clothes, music, etc.) nor did I like how Dr. Loomis is now an asshole. I was hoping that the kills would be interesting, but you couldn’t see a damn thing. As soon as Michael started killing, it intercut with Laurie freaking out somewhere and you couldn’t tell what the hell was going on. I feel sad just sitting through Halloween 2.

I’m currently in the process of setting up a whole slew of horror movie reviews for the next month at least. My goal is to post a new review from the beginning of September up until Halloween, including a few movies that I’ve never seen before along with a few classics. If you have any recommendations or there’s anything you’d like to see reviewed on here, please let me know. Until then, have fun! Thanks to the FD franchise and H2, it looks like August is the new October…

The first one.
PLOT
Gina is driving home from work one night when she sees a woman who looks exactly like her in another car. After a horrific car crash, she wakes up in the hospital and everything seems a little odd. She starts seeing weird things and experiencing things that make her think everyone is wrong or different like her boyfriend who she no longer trusts. She eventually discovers that all of her family and friends are now changed and it has something to do with the mirrors…
TRIVIA
The first movie picked for the latest After Dark Horror Fest.
THOUGHTS
I felt completely behind on the times when I stopped into Wal-Mart and found three of the After Dark Horror Fest movies sitting on the shelf, even more so when I discovered that they’re all now on DVD and I had no clue. For some reason I picked this one, probably because the only other one less than $15 was The Butterfly Effect 3, which I had absolutely no interest in. This movie was so-so, which is a good way of explaining it. My boyfriend said it best when just after it ended, he looked at me and said, “that movie was fucked up”. He then tried to get me to explain it to him and I have no clue what the hell happened. The whole movie seemed to be leading up to one thing, but when the ending finally came, I didn’t know what was going on. I hope the others are better than this.

Damn you Netflix!
PLOT
A college student gets a notice in the mail that her school found her housing in an old building off-campus and she arrives to find that four other students got the same letter. On their first night in the house, they find an old clock and one of the girls tells a story about her grandmother telling her that a clock like that was known as a spirit trap. As the kids start getting close to each other, weird things start happening and they all seem to revolve around that clock. Hidden secrets are revealed and it becomes apparent that no one can trust their new roommates.
TRIVIA
The film was set in London, but filmed in Romania.
THOUGHTS
Surprisingly enough, Spirit Trap wasn’t that bad of a movie and it even had a few good parts. I went into it expecting the same crappy straight to DVD horror movie I’ve seen a million times and ended up being pleasantly surprised. I think part of it is because I wasn’t expecting a foreign horror movie when it started playing, which should teach me to read the back of the box or description a little more closely. I will say that the ending felt a little lame and tacked on, but the rest of the movie made up for it.

Finally saw it…
PLOT
When zombies take over the world, the government recruit’s a group of soldiers known as the zombie squad to handle the problems. At the same time a group of scientists are working on a cure for the zombie problem. The zombie squad quickly encounters a group of religious zealots who believe that God wants them to take care of the zombies and protect them. Their belief in part relies on the fact that the son of their leader was infected. They put up a fight when it comes to the zombie squad and aren’t about to take anything lying down.
TRIVIA
Sam Rami used some of his money from Evil Dead 2 to help produce the movie, using the name The Master Cylinder. Dead star Bruce Campbell helped out by dubbing two voices in the movie.
The movie is often billed as the most expensive Super-8 movie ever made.
THOUGHTS
I had The Dead Next Door in my instant queue on Netflix for what seemed like months (and probably was even longer). Every time I clicked through it, I took one look and kept moving. I finally forced myself to sit down and watch the whole thing the other night and the best I can say is that the movie is kind of okay. I’m not going to lie, this is truly low budget and for some people that’s why it works so well. I’m a different kind of movie watcher and for a budget like this to catch my attention, it needs to do something big and this one just didn’t cut it for me.

Tom Hanks did a horror movie?
PLOT
He Knows You’re Alone starts out with a young girl is getting ready for her wedding day. Of course this being a horror movie, you know it isn’t going to end well. A serial killer is on the hunt because his girlfriend left him for another man and he’s never gotten over it. Now he apparently can’t stand to see anyone else happy so he kills off people. He stalks the bride and slowly kills off those around him. She turns to an ex as she starts to think that she’s imagining the killings and a detective who lost his own bride to the killer shows up trying to stop him for good.
TRIVIA
This was the first movie for Tom Hanks and the original plans called for his character to die. The producers liked him though and cut out his big death scene.
THOUGHTS
Someone recommended this movie to me based on my love of When a Stranger Calls. Somehow they thought I would love this one too. By the time it came, I had forgotten everything I already knew about it, which was good I guess. At the same time though, this movie was kind of lame. It reminded me of 400 other horror movies from the 1980s where everything felt kind of stale and recycled. I really only watched it until I saw Tom Hanks and then started tuning out.

Guess what I got excited about?
PLOT
Charley is making out with his girlfriend and just about to get her into bed for the first time when he gets distracted by his new neighbors carrying a coffin. He then sees the same man Jerry, biting a younger girl and tells his mom who ignores him because Charley loves horror movies so he obviously can’t be trusted. His best friend Ed and girlfriend Amy don’t believe him either and wonder if he’s going crazy. Finally he calls the police, but they don’t find any evidence so they think he’s crazy too. He then gets Peter Vincent, a local horror host to help him in his quest, though Peter is less than thrilled when he realizes there really are vampires in the world.
TRIVIA
Fright Night was turned into a comic book and an arcade game.
A sequel to the 1985 movie was released in 1988.
Dream Works announced earlier this year that they were remaking Fright Night.
THOUGHTS
Whenever anyone hears that I haven’t seen Fright Night (or at least one of my horror movie loving friends), they completely freak out on me. Now that I’ve seen it, I kind of want to know what the big deal is. I got excited for half a second when I saw the gal from Married with Children and more excited that William Ragsdale was the main guy. After that…yeah, I just had a really hard time getting into it. Everyone’s been recommending this movie for me over the last couple of years and now that I’ve seen it, I probably won’t see it again. Sorry for all those big hardcore fans out there…
