WHITE NOISE 2 AKA WHITE NOISE 2: THE LIGHT

Did the first movie really need a sequel?
THE PLOT
Abe Dale tragically loses his wife and son right in front of him and attempts suicide in his grief. He’s later saved, but realizes that he can now hear EVPs and other types of white noise. This leads him to become something of a savior, tracking down people that are about to die and rescuing them. He then learns that the man who murdered his family had the same problem, only he did save them at one point. Now he has to figure out what that means for his own life.
FUN TRIVIA
The first movie is never referenced or alluded to at all in this straight to DVD sequel.
THOUGHTS/OPINIONS
Michael Keaton is one of my favorite actors and while I saw White Noise, I didn’t particularly care for it. Part of me thought this would at least be interesting and that maybe they could solve some of the problems with the first one. That didn’t happen.
This movie has a slightly more interesting ending, though the first one had more of a plot in the beginning. Nathan Fillion does a good job of playing the confused and still grieving husband, but I couldn’t help noticing that he wore the same expression throughout most of the movie. If your lead actor isn’t into the movie, that should tell you something. All in all it was a passable sequel to a movie that never really needed one to begin with.
