THE LOST BOYS

Poster

Vampirism runs rampant in a small town.

THE PLOT

Michael and Sam move to a small California town with their mother to live with their grandfather. Michael falls for a girl named Stars, even though she runs with a wild crowd and Sam meets the Frog brothers who warn him about vampires in Santa Carla. Of course the Frog brothers are right and Michael gets infected after he starts spending time with Star.

FUN TRIVIA

Kiefer Sutherland’s character wasn’t officially killed in the movie because plans called for him to appear in a sequel to the movie. The original sequel was dropped and Sutherland didn’t appear in the eventual sequel.

THOUGHTS/OPINIONS

A lot of people have accurately pointed out that this movie doesn’t hold up well over the years. While that’s true, there’s something about this movie that draws people in and makes them a fan. There’s the excellent theme song to the movie as well as some great acting, most notably from Jami Getz as Star. I also enjoy the scene where Michael sits down to dinner with the group and finds his rice has turned into maggots.

There are better vampires movies from the 80s targeted towards the younger generation (I’d have to go with Near Dark for that), but there’s a reason why this movie is on so many people’s favorites list.
