THE FORSAKEN
A vampire movie for the teen generation.
THE PLOT
Sean works at a film studio, cutting trailers for low budget horror movies. He gets a job driving someone’s car across country, which will pay for his trip to his sister’s wedding but along the way he loses his wallet. Picking up a hitchhiker by the name of Nick, he manages to play for his trip. They quickly come across a woman that’s sick and Nick knows right away that she’s been bitten by a vampire. Unfortunately they’re already being tracked by a vampire gang led by Kit and Sean finds himself thrown into a world he never knew existed.
FUN TRIVIA
J.S. Cardone, the writer/director of The Forsaken also wrote the screenplays for The Covenant, the remake of Prom Night and the upcoming remake of The Stepfather.
THOUGHTS/OPINIONS
This is absolutely a movie marketed towards the teen/WB generation or at least it was when it was first released in 2001. Kerr Smith was starring on “Dawson’s Creek” at the time while Brendan Fehr was on “Roswell”. It’s not a surprise that the two were cast as the leads in this movie.
There’s only one touch of nudity in this movie and that’s easy to overlook considering it happens at a frantic pace during one scene where your eye’s drawn in multiple directions at one time. Jonathon Schaech does a great job as Kit, mainly because he looks so creepy and disturbing. However everyone else seems to just be going through the motions. Smith and Fehr have played similar roles in the past and they don’t really add anything to the movie.
This movie is just a forgotten little vampire film from the early 2000s when most horror movies were created with teenagers in mind. It borrows heavily from other vampire movies and doesn’t set about creating anything of its own.
